Math is usually a challenge for children. Most children are visual learners, and this toy that makes use of the two hands really helps a child see and interact to solve math problems. Physically and mentally interacting helps solidify the process and make sense of it. My 4-year-old great-niece and I really enjoyed working through some of the math problems. She caught on really quickly and liked moving the fingers into position. The felt material moves easily and sticks to the Velcro to hold it in place while the child thinks through the problem. They are a bit difficult to remove, though. The magnetic beads are designed to help develop fine motor skills. They are a challenge even for an adult! There is a bead color that matches the color of the number. The goal is to get the matching-colored bead into the number slot using the magnetic wand. The challenge is that the wand will often attach to two or more beads at a time, which makes it difficult to move only the beads you want. However, as a child, I played with a similar game, and it was the same way. I found it challenging, although frustrating at times. But frustration is part of the challenge and helps build patience and persistence. The board does need to be held in the right position when playing with the beads. Slanted too much one way or another makes it harder to move the beads. The wand is attached to the board and housed in a slot so it won’t get lost. The math flashcards come in a plastic bag, but it would be nice if there had been a slot or a sliding door on the back to slip them in for storage. The number wooden blocks have rounded corners and fit nicely in the slots. This is a unique, fun, and interactive way for preschool and kindergarten-age children to learn counting and math. Hopefully, this will get them excited about and take an interest in this challenging subject.

I didn''t know what to expect when I got this, but the quality is great! The magnets move really easily under the plastic so it''s easy enough for young children to use, but even fun for adults if they want to join in. I was a little confused by the Velcro hands towards the top, but after going back and looking at the box I understood the purpose of counting with them. I think this is a great educational toy for young children and seems really durable.

There's a lot to like about this educational toy. It can aid in teaching kids simple math (addition and subtraction) and counting. There are tiles with numbers and flash cards. The 'hands' can aid in solving the math problems as well as counting. Colored beads are moved through a maze using a magnetic stylus. Identify and match the color of the beads with the same colored numbers. Moving the beads through the maze helps develop fine motor skills. The beads are encased in the toy and the stylus is attached with a lanyard, so there is no fear of losing the pieces. Be aware that if your child still puts things in his/her mouth, the tile pieces are small and could present a choking hazard. There are a few things which could be improved on this toy. When the toy is laid flat, the beads tend to roll out of the numbered slots. A built-in stand on the top of the toy would allow you to tilt is so that the beads stay in place. Moving the beads from the numbered area back to the reservoir is a challenge. I tried to tilt and shake the toy to move the beads, but the beads bottlenecked at the passageway, leaving many of them trapped in the numbered area. I needed to use the magnet to move the remaining beads back to the reservoir. I wish the toy had a storage compartment to hold the flash cards and numbered tiles. I deducted a star because of these things. Overall, this is a good educational toy and would make a good gift, in my opinion.
